The Yamuna, in Hindu mythology, is a sacred river personified as the ‘Daughter of the Sun God, Surya, hence the title of the serie ‘Surya Kanya’.

Once a symbol of vitality and prosperity, the yamuna now faces an alarming environmental crisis.

Its waters have become a reservoir of toxicity, poisoned by industrial effluents, untreated sewage, and unsustainable agricultural practices.

This series seeks to capture life along the banks of the Yamuna, whether human or natural, that continues to endure and strive for survival amidst adversity.

This long term project has been conduced between 2022 and 2024.
